Customized Value Analysis For Your Facility

Transforming Medication Delivery

At Wellfount, we have made it our mission to partner technology and superior customer service to tackle the pharmacy challenges faced by Long Term Care facilities. Today, hours of valuable nursing time are spent preparing, delivering and managing patient medications. These administrative activities add resource costs and reduce the motivation of a center’s nursing staff.

Wellfount is transforming medication delivery with remote dispensing pharmacy services, at the point of patient care, right inside your facility. This innovative technology, combined with an on-site Wellfount Pharmacy Customer Service Representative enable nurses, staff and administrators to meet the demands of quality, cost, and timeliness—revolutionizing the way medications are delivered to long term care residents.

With access to pharmacist-approved medications 24×7, facilities are able to deliver the highest quality care while eliminating unnecessary waste experienced with traditional pharmacies.

We are focused on helping you achieve improved resident outcomes, reduced readmissions, lower medication waste and reduced overall costs and improved nurse satisfaction.

Challenges of Traditional Pharmacy Model

  • Drug waste, which leads to unnecessary costs
  • Medication doesn’t come when needed (especially with new admissions)
  • Readmission rates to hospitals – Need to track discharges to gauge the incident of readmission the first month after discharge
  • Inefficient processes that lead to nursing staff time spent reordering, receiving, storing and disposing of medications
  • Low patient and care giver satisfaction
  • Low nursing staff satisfaction

How Remote Dispense Technology Works

  • Waste Reduction, adds bandwidth, reduced hospital readmissions
  • Reduced costs, happier staff, well-cared for patients
  • Faster, more accurate medication passes and less time spent counting narcotics, reordering and receiving medications
  • Improved formulary management focused on improving clinical outcomes with the most cost-effective drug therapy by maximizing the greatest amount of medications on-site
  • TedRx puts over 300 – 500 medications on site with access to it 24/7
  • Onsite Wellfount Pharmacy Customer Service Representative to work side-by-side with your team

In 2011, Wellfount partnered with Butler University on a market research study to measure the impacts and implications of Wellfount’s remote dispensing solution, TED Rx.

Butler conducted a variety of data gathering activities including on site activity time studies, observations, stakeholder interviews, process mapping, data collection and drug cost analysis. The study was conducted twice per location: 45 days prior to the implementation of the TedRx system and again 90 days after full implementation of the TedRx system.

By measuring by the actual nurse staff time and the related costs, Butler identified significant time and cost reductions in the following areas:

  • Med Pass Prep Time
  • Med Pass Cycle Time
  • Med Pass Wrap Up Time
  • New Order/Admit Entry Time
  • Med Receipt/Stock/Return Time
  • Med Destruction Time

Drug Cost per Patient Day Working with Butler, we have designed a streamlined version of the analysis that LTC facilities can complete at no cost and without the need for onsite observations. Using as little as 1 month of self-reported data, you will receive a 3-page analysis that identifies potential savings as well as highlights of additional pharmacy operations efficiencies.

Getting started with the assessment is simple:

  1. Gather the required data points and provide them to your Wellfount representative.
  2. Once the data is received, we will perform the assessment using the research tool developed in partnership with Butler University.
  3. Your Wellfount representative will meet with you to present the data and discuss the results.

The following data points are used to identify the efficiency of gains and added value through the TedRx remote dispense solution:

  • Recent monthly pharmacy drug costs
  • Prior year annual drug costs
  • Number of patient beds
  • Facility capacity
  • Recent monthly Part A patient days
  • % of drug packaging types (punch/perforated punch/ single punch)
  • Average Estimated Monthly Med Pass Distribution Cycle Time
  • Number of nurse shifts with med pass
  • Number of full time employed nurses
  • Number of part time employed/staffed nurses
  • Number of patient wings in facility

If you are interested in a more advanced analysis, please contact us for the expanded data needs list. The advanced analysis is provided to LTC facilities at no additional cost.
